GRIPE OF THE DAY
Did you know…?
There are 3 hidden roles every soon-to-be wife needs to nail down before walking down the aisle.
Miss these and you might be setting up your marriage for avoidable bumps right from the start.
If you’re curious, keep reading.
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
By preparing for these roles, you're laying the groundwork for a happy, healthy, and lasting marriage while becoming a better version of yourself.
However…
Ignoring these roles could lead to misunderstandings, conflicts, and a strained relationship with your husband and future kids. Let this go on for too long, and it might just be the downfall of your marriage and the bond with your children.
STICKY ISSUES
Imagine this…
You're a woman dreaming of a happy, fulfilling marriage. You picture the perfect partner, the beautiful home, and the laughter of your children.
But then, there’s that small voice in your head whispering, “What if I’m not enough?”
That whisper turns into a nagging thought, “What if I’m not ready?”
This thought grows, making you worry about misunderstandings and conflicts that might arise if you're not fully prepared. You start picturing strained relationships with your future husband and children.
These worries remind you of friends and relatives whose marriages have crumbled. People who once seemed so in love are now struggling, drifting apart, or divorced.
The fear hits you hard. Marriage isn’t just a fairy tale; it’s a serious commitment that needs thorough preparation.
THE BREAKDOWN
Before you even start thinking about marriage, single ladies, here are three things you should prepare to “be” before taking the plunge:
A Wife: This might sound obvious, but it's deeper than the title. Not every woman knows what it truly means to be a wife. It’s about fulfilling responsibilities that go beyond just being a partner. Some of these responsibilities include;
Unconditionally Respecting Your Husband: Respect is to men what love is to women. Even when he doesn’t seem to deserve it, respect him. Disagree if you must, but never disrespect. Show him the respect he needs, and you’ll find he’ll go out of his way to please you.
Protect His Dignity: A wife should protect her husband’s image. Don’t talk down on him or criticize him in front of others. Keep his dignity intact, both in public and private.
Support Him: Be there for him during tough times and help him achieve his goals. Stand by him, and he’ll feel empowered to conquer challenges.
Be Faithful: Loyalty is one of the greatest gifts you can give. If he’s confident in your commitment, he’ll have the confidence to achieve more with you beside him.
Accept Him: Acceptance is key. Nagging and trying to change him won’t work. Accept him as he is, praise the good he does, and watch him gradually improve.
A Mum: Not every woman is ready or willing to be a mum, and that’s okay. But if you want to have children, understand that being a mum is about more than just giving birth. It’s about love, nurture, care, and emotional support. If you’re not ready to be a mum, remain single or be with someone who doesn’t want kids.
A Positive Role Model: Being present isn’t enough. You have to set a good example for your kids. Your actions teach your kids more than your words ever will. Show your daughters how to treat their future husbands by treating yours with love, respect and care. Show your sons what to look for when choosing a wife for themselves by exhibiting the values of a good woman. Remember, your behaviour influences not just your children, but also those around them.
Now that you understand what you need to be before marriage, let’s move on to how you can practically achieve these qualities and set yourself up for a successful and fulfilling relationship...
